Mental Health America--our national organization--is the nation's leading community-based nonprofit founded in 1909 by Clifford W. Beers, a former mental patient and author of A Mind That Found Itself. Today, Mental Health America is dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and promoting the overall mental health of all Americans.
Mental Health America's work is driven by a commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all; early identification and intervention for those at risk; and integrated care, services, and supports for those who need them, with recovery as the goal.
Mental Health America in Montgomery (MHA-M), a local affiliate of Mental Health America, is concerned with all aspects of mental illness and mental health. As a private, non-profit agency first founded in 1951, we educate, advocate, and serve the community.
In concert with our national organization, our work is driven by our commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all; early identification and intervention for those at risk; and to provide integrated care, services, and supports for those with mental illness, with recovery as the goal.
